I wish...

... my GAS budget wasn't earmarked till October or later.

'Cause.... the things I could do with a Strat-zouki!!!!

Having said that, it does look as though it's just a Strat with two extra tuners, extra nut slots, and a modified bridge, and I'm not sure if the high and low courses aren't a bit close to the edge of the fingerboard.

Wonder what I can afford at the moment ???

It really does look like a hacked about Strat.

Were I doing it seriously, I'd take a Start body, a set of blade pickups, one of the blank-headstocked Strat necks from Warmoth, and a replacement blank nut. Note how the headstock on this has only two string guides for 8 strings, and there's places where two strings are going through the same one.

Not sure how you'd do the bridge.

...but note the bridge is a six screw/six hole Strat bridge that's been hacked about.

That all kinda adds to the coolness factor for me ... but it does look like it would be a bear to play, especially any sort of lead playing

Those courses look a little far apart to me ... but yes, it's very pretty.

If you'd like to borrow my electric bouzouki sometime (It's very similar to the one at the top left of this page as it was Mark's first electric zouk) you'd be very welcome ... (oh ok, here's the picture from that page)

Um... yes please, if you're not using it. :) Certainly if the MHB starts rehearsing.

Are you SWiGGLing this weekend?

If so, would there be a chance of borrowing said electric 'zouk for a while?

I have precisely two "free" weekends between now and the middle of september (and this one has SWiGGLe and Gravesend possibilities which I'm going to have to skip) to do any house packing, tidying, sorting etc. so I think I'm going to have to skip the SWiGGLe again this time :-(

But as I'm in Cambridge now, I'm a fair bit closer to you ... so if I stumble over the e-zouk this weekend, I'll add it to the pile of stuff to bring up!
