Amplifier woes...

[livejournal.com profile] djbp has, very kindly, let me use a Park valve amp he acquired for the proverbial song, with Fleetfoot Mike, on the general agreement that I keep it maintained.

To date, it's had several tubes replaced, a burned out resistor replaced, a couple of leaky capacitors replaced, a standby switch fitted to save the tubes.... in most cases, after yet another '70's vintage component gave up the ghost in mid-practice.

Yesterday, in rehearsal, it died again. Intermittently, it would cut out to little or no volume and shedloads of distortion. From previous experience, this is probably another dud screen resistor. Ho hum.

Much as I adore it, and really appreciate the loan of it, I think it's time to whip out my flexible friend and buy myself a decent valve amp that I can rely on for gigs and rehearsals.
