Amplifier woes...
Sep. 30th, 2002 01:59 pmTo date, it's had several tubes replaced, a burned out resistor replaced, a couple of leaky capacitors replaced, a standby switch fitted to save the tubes.... in most cases, after yet another '70's vintage component gave up the ghost in mid-practice.
Yesterday, in rehearsal, it died again. Intermittently, it would cut out to little or no volume and shedloads of distortion. From previous experience, this is probably another dud screen resistor. Ho hum.
Much as I adore it, and really appreciate the loan of it, I think it's time to whip out my flexible friend and buy myself a decent valve amp that I can rely on for gigs and rehearsals.
