The Ryder Cup
Sep. 20th, 2004 05:35 pmI'm sure my American friends will forgive me just a bit if I gloat at the result of the golf yesterday:
USA 9 1/2 - Europe 18 1/2
Why? I think these two quotes sum it up:
Colin Montgomerie: "We were so close - one of the closest units in international sport - it's amazing how we play for each other."
Tiger Woods: "I was responsible for five points and I didn't get the job done."
Erm, Tiger? There's no "I" in team. And your partners were jointly responsible for four of them? Remember? Besides, that'd only make it 12 1/2 - 15 1/2, since you did win one of the fourballs and your singles. Strangely enough, you can't win the Ryder Cup on your own.
