From the land of broken hardware

Good news: freezer trick worked, busy rebuilding configs.

Bad news: adsl router died in power cut. Unlikely to be back before Friday.

*hugs* The house of broken hardware indeed. Please to be stopping with the hardware-breaking, now?
A&A were pretty quick with sending me my router, next day delivery - or you can borrow my old non-wifi-router in the meantime, if you like.

UPS

It may seem silly, but we have enough power fluctuations here that it's worth it to put ethernet switches, routers, and whatnot on UPSs (things that are close together can share a UPS). And it can be a pretty small UPS, as those things don't draw much power.

Yeah - there is a UPS in the room - unfortunately, I hadn't got round to wiring up an IEC to UK adaptor to plug the two wall warts for router and switch in.

I now have two 8-way UK mains blocks each of which has an IEC plug on the end to fit into a UPS (I took off the UK plug and wired an IEC one instead). That still, oddly, is not enough...

Life is too short - ordered a pre-wired one.
