Questions from [livejournal.com profile] the_magician (and man, these are GOOD questions):

1) If you'd never met Anne, where do you think you'd be now? (Job, family, band etc.)
2) If Fleetwood Mac said they weren't going to allow any FM tribute bands, could you be a tribute band for anyone else? If so, who?
3) Try to explain what your religion gives you, and what it gives you that you pass on to other people.
4) If you were writing an add-on for your current recording setup, what one piece of software (possible or impossible) would you like to have?
5) If you'd sold your shares for a million pounds (darn dot com crash!), what would you have done with the money?

1) If you'd never met Anne, where do you think you'd be now? (Job, family, band etc.)

Mmm. Good one. Same job, almost certainly. Married, yes, I think so - I might even dare to guess who to. Band-wise... tricky. I wouldn't be living in Peterborough, but I'd probably still have met Tim and Annie, so who knows. I'd definitely be _in_ a band.

2) If Fleetwood Mac said they weren't going to allow any FM tribute bands, could you be a tribute band for anyone else? If so, who?

Sure... there's a couple of bands I'd love to be in a tribute act to - Dire Straits (probably called 'Desperate Straits' :), and Fairport Convention (definitely called 'Fivepart Invention'). The latter would, I suspect, have Annie Walker being Sandy Denny, the former Phil Allcock on rhythm guitar. I would, though, be voicing my dislike of the present FM management (whom I can absolutely guarantee you would be the ones responsible for the edict) very publicly [currently, I don't, simply because I'd rather not draw their attention this way!] :)

3) Try to explain what your religion gives you, and what it gives you that you pass on to other people.

'Try' being the operative word. :)

Things it gives me: a place to direct my talents, a family, a quiet refuge when life gets stressful or hard to cope with, and a motivation to do right.

What others get from it: I hope, an example of someone who can be a Christian without being an example of some of the all-too-frequent unfavourable press some of the more fundamentalist aspects of Christianity gets.

4) If you were writing an add-on for your current recording setup, what one piece of software (possible or impossible) would you like to have?

Actually, I'd like the neat software plugin that does exist that allows you to say 'take this lead vocal track and line up all the ragged out of time backing vocals against it, so the syllables match...' :) Either that or something that will sync a MIDI clock to a guitar part (Cubase already does this, but it requires more manual effort than I'm usually willing to devote).

5) If you'd sold your shares for a million pounds (darn dot com crash!), what would you have done with the money?

We actually planned this out at the point where that *was* the value of the shares: we'd have dumped a good 300-500,000 in a pension scheme for both of us, bought a house not unlike the one we're in, spent a fair bit on building a studio, set aside a trust fund for James to cover University fees, cleared all our debts, written a blank cheque to a Harley Street specialist for one of our friends with the instruction 'you fix now, ok?'. And carried on working.
