Well, the spirit of Christmas seems to weigh about 8lbs :) (It seems to be a pretty reasonable statistic that that's what I gain when I stop eating low carb).

So.

Diet starts again today, along with exercise regime (10 mins on the Orbittrek plus 70 ab crunches - 3 x 10 normal, 2 x 10 reverse, 1 x 10 each side oblique)).

Height 6'3"
Start weight 16st3lbs (227lbs/103kg)
Body fat index (according to the scales) 24
Waist 36" (91cm)
Target weight: 13st7lbs (189lbs/86kg)

I may revise that when I get a bit closer, and I may deliberately overshoot by a few pounds to allow for the weight gain when I stop eating low carb all the time.

I have a 'before' picture saved up (from Aug 2002, weighing 20st9lbs (289lbs/131kg)), but you don't get to see it till I hit target and have an 'after' picture to compare.

So. Anyone else joining me?

raises hand! I don't know what my weight is at the moment as I haven't been to the gym for a while, but my target weight is between 81 and 82 kg. I would guess that I am around 84 kg at the moment.
Height, I am about 6 and a bit.

Regime at the moment when at the gym:
5 min. rowing
25-30 min on the walking machine or 10-15 cycling
various push and pull machines
10-15 sit-ups
some exercise for my back

Oh and less chocolate! Guess what the hard part is going to be....

I did most of my weight loss last year and the year before - this year I just have to lose the 10 lbs I gained with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Goal:
Exercise at least 10 minutes a day, at least 5 days a week.
Cut down sweets (No matter what he has to say in the matter).

What is it that we throw in to the ring here? A hat, I think.

So currently I've got my nose in front again, but only on one scale (pun intended (well... found, grinned at and left in)).

Height: 6'1"
Start weight: 15st13lbs
Body fat index: Erm, I'll ask about calculating that at my work's 'likelihood of imminent death review' on Wednesday.
Waist: 40"
Target weight: Not sure. I was thinking 14st minimum when first looking at this a few days ago. I haven't been at that weight for half my lifetime. Haven't been below 15 for over 10 years. Haven't been above 16 either, which shows this is long term lard around my middle.

Ho hum.

OUr scales actually measure a body fat index - they;re rather cute.

Not to be confused with BMI, which is a straight function of weight and height.

Oh, go on then, if you're all going to be like that...

(and Chiefy isn't allowed *any* comments about voluptuous women:)

I find it rather worrying that over the last 7 years I have put on 22 kilos. That's a bit over 3 stone, I think. And mostly what I've been doing is fluctuating a lot, by perpetually trying to lose weight, losing some, then gaining it back with a bit extra, losing some, etc. It used to be mostly a matter of vanity but now I'm among filkers (who don't worry overmuch about such issues) so it's mainly a matter of how I feel. Which, at the moment, and for quite a while now, is sluggish, lethargic, unmotivated, and lacking in energy.

Height: 173 (about 5'7'', I think)
Weight: 82kg (13 stone?)
Body fat: No thanks, got plenty:-)
Target weight: around 65kg, though I would be happy if I got down to 70.

I have no fixed plan as yet, and living in a fully catered hall does't help much (set meals, not necessarily the way I would have cooked them, generous amounts, 3 times a day)... But I'll see what happens and keep you posted.

And please, please, please don't comment if you see me eating chocolate. I *already know* I shouldn't be and there's nothing like patronizing to make me eat more!

My problem is actually eating 3 meals a day, I tend to eat only one or two (or none at weekends), but I have the same problem with meals when I'm working (especially away and in a B&B). I don't know how you measure body fat with scales. BMI, yes...

According to my GP's scales I lost a pound over Christmas. Possibly because I /was/ eating 3 meals a day...

Gym should help, I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet or how much, probably cycling and the thing that looks like skis plus some free weights.

Current stats:

Height: 5'2" (158cm)

Weight: 99kg (218lb, 15st8lb)

BMI: 40

Target weight: no idea. Less than current, probably around 75kg, I haven't been that low for over a decade.

Height 6'0"
Start weight 20st2.75lbs (282.75lbs/128kg)
Body fat index (according to the scales) need to set this up (yes my scales does measure this!)
Waist 46"
Target weight: 15st0lbs (210lbs/95kg)

I've got a membership in the local gym and pool, though I've managed to damage my knee and just about all the cardio machines require two working knees (rowing, cycling, cross-trainer etc.) so it's going to be swimming initially to build up fitness and to let my knee recover.
