Musings

Gym again yesterday: no swim because the Aqua class started just as I finished. No gym today because I can't find my membership card, and haven't had time to look (or go). Will go tomorrow.

A thread on uk.music.guitar, bizarrely, drifted onto panic attacks. I get them, under one very controlled set of circumstances. Total darkness.

There has always been a small risk with my eye condition that a blow to my head can cause a detatched retina and blindness. Waking up in pitch darkness is not, under those circumstances, fun. Fortunately, the instinctive and panicky reaction to Find A LIGHT works. (There's one friends' house with *very* efficient blackout curtains in their guest room, and I find I have to leave their *printer* on, because those two green LED's are just enough, thanks...)

Huh. Me, I'm used to the moderate dimness of my bedroom; it's the unexpected sudden lights that freak me out. For example, when we bought our new alarm clock, I had to get used to the faint pool of green light its readout threw on the ceiling. Likewise, when Jack got a windchime, and then attached a spare CD to the bottom as a clank-enhancer, it took me WEEKS to discover that the erratic, alarmingly-swinging flash of orange on the wall of our room was in fact reflected streetlights off that (swinging in the breeze of the heater) CD, and not in fact a UFO (which is what it looked like).
