For the price, it's pretty much unbeatable: it's a little flimsy, but it's three stops faster than the kit lens that came with the camera, which basically means a) I can shoot in pretty low light without a flash, and b) great shallow depth-of-field when I want it.

I was tempted by a 50mm f1.4 recently (it would have needed a K-m42 adaptor too, but probably still cheaper than a K mount one. Someday I want a 40mm pancake lens too (only f2.8, but it's not obvious from that photo just how thin the lens is (this is better).

Y'all are a fair sight better than I am with my camera, for all I love it :) I got a nice, 'cheep' upgrade to a Cannon G3 (digital is your friend with a baby) and am just terribly pleased I can snap off good pictures at all. Although my first love is an ancient Cannon AE1, I've never gotten good enough with it to use it with any regularity.

At any rate, the subject matter of this picture may be simple, but it's lovely. Thanks for sharing :)

That's where digital scores, I think. The previous batch of photos I put up (a whole 6) were culled from about ten times that number taken in about 90 minutes. Not having to worry about processing costs means that I'm more prepared to take risks (what Anne calls 'being arty') and see what happens.

No kidding. And just the other day I was trying to get Kira in her new coat (mommy got crazy with the sewing machine) and she kept chasing me (and the camera) down. I have plenty of cute shots of her crawling and growling at me (yes.. growling with her nose all scrunched up an everything) but they're not very arty ;)

Incidentally, are you using HTML to get the nice image-to-the-side-of-the-text thing? 'cause that's pretty nice, too. I should sit down and figure out how to post a few with decent formatting, but right now it's easier just to dump them wholesale into a gallery and leave 'em :)

Actually, I'm using Flickr's 'blog this image' option :)

Woo.. just signed up for Flickr.. NICE!! I like. Thanks for pointing it out :)

I wonder if it's worth the pay service. Then again, I'm already uploading lots and lots to my mother's Pbase gallery. It's be a bother to try and do it to two places, so I was thinking of keeping the Flickr acct just for LJ photos.

Anyway, thanks for the tip.
