Ok - there have been any number of 'sign up here to save Firefly' initiatives: this one, however, looks to have a little more thought behind it than some.
It doesn't seem to have much actual force behind it, though. Googling around about it found me a reference to it here. This is on whedonesque.com, which is seems to be a popular blog for all things Joss Whedon, and from what they were saying there, the guy trying to do this doesn't even have Joss' actual blessing on it.
And the thing is, Joss himself has been quoted as saying that there won't be any more Firefly anyway--none of the networks want to pick it up. And if he isn't doing it... well. Well-intentioned though this effort may be, it won't get very far without Joss.
