War Of The Worlds
Apr. 21st, 2006 10:39 am.... no, not the Tom Cruise movie.
Went to see the live show of the Jeff Wayne album last night in Nottingham, with
plaid_dragon,
bardling,
djbp, Anne and Mal. And... wow.
Oh, man, that was awesome.
Several of the original singers (Justin Heyward, Chris Thompson), and some
more-than-adequate replacements (Russell Watson for the late Phil Lynott in particular, as well as the excellent Tara Blaise as Beth (Julie Covington))... amazing multimedia, huge widescreen projection behind the band, massive Martian fighting machine straddling the stage, lights show, Richard Burton as a projected talking head (which looked and sounded better than I can describe it).
There are still tickets for Manchester, Sheffield and Dublin :)
