Creativity...

I have a theory that creativity is finite.
Scary, huh. Not finite in the 'once you've used up all your creativity, that's it' sense. More like rationed than finite. You get so much a day, and it's up to you what you do with it.
Why do I think this? Well. Between 1986 or so and 1994 I recorded and released three albums, two of my own and one with a band, and wrote something like 30 original songs. Since 1994, I think I've written 2.
The difference? In 1994, I discovered MUSHes and online roleplay. Modesty aside, I am a pretty decent roleplayer, and it was fun, and a great outlet for my creativity. But... creativity seems to be finite. MUSHing meant no songs, or precious few. The obvious answer is that MUSHing's a time sink, and perhaps that's part of it. But even making time for songwriting, I found I had nothing to draw on.
So I gave up: Dec 31 2000, the end of the Pedants' Millennium. And yeah, sure, I miss it, a heck of a lot. But I have one new song, and two more on the go...
