RIP: Tommy Vance
Mar. 7th, 2005 12:11 pmI suspect that most of my American readers won't understand or recognise the name, but UK rock DJ Tommy Vance died on Sunday morning.
If you grew up in the UK in the 70s/80s, and you were into rock music, Tommy Vance was the voice you knew, a gravelly, authoritative delivery on the Friday Rock Show at 10pm on Radio One that came from someone who was clearly a true fan of the genre. It was a voice you recognised, wherever it cropped up, and it was a part of my, and a lot of my friends, formative years.
Rock on, TV. You'll be missed.
