Either that or a new Moleskine notebook is a good source of inspiration.

Getting these lyrics formatted properly is a complete sod in LJ, so I've posted them on my website.

"This Is My Land".

I think a new Moleskine is great inspiration. All those nice, clean, smooth, blank pages waiting for you to write on... I've yet to use my current notebook up, and yet every time I walk by the bookshelf at the store, I want to buy more of them!

Your lyrics are very powerful. A tad depressing this early in the morning, but quite powerful for all that. Nicely done. I'm now very curious how they'll be set to music.

Nicely done.

Very nice too. Sounds like something I'd expect to hear from Show of Hands! (In other words - good.) So when do we get to hear it?

That was my thought, too!

I *so* need to write my SoH rebuttal to "The Cold Heart of England" etc. :-)

Only if (as I said in my sleep-deprived state last nigh) I get some tunes written for these word this morning.

More likely in my concert set.

There were relatively few enclosures in the 19th Century, so I'd change the 1882 verse to 1782 or something.

Except I want to tie in the introduction of steam/machinery, which (after a bit of Wikipedia research) suggests I can get away with 1840 or so :)

Could be building a railway, and chopping a field in two.

Wow--that is very thought-provoking. Reminds me of the kind of stuff my father used to say about his father's land in the west of Ireland (Cromwell and his "to hell or Connaught")

Wow. Travel safely.
