I thought mine was safe as news that there's going to be a Torchwood mini-series and a Dr Who Christmas special is fairly well known; the whole idea that there will be just be Dr. Who specials next year and no complete series, I thought, was common knowledge to fans as Tennant's going to be busy with the RSC. Sorry! :(
Ah, good. I figured my 'wow' would just whet people's appetites. We only watched last week's episode ourselves on Wednesday night as we were out last weekend.
Ouch! Sorry you bumped into spoilers; my Friends list is being good so far, but I think most of the folks on it who are in the fandom are still busy trying to acquire the episode. *^_^*;;
Surely, now that the finale has been officially shown, there are no spoilers.
NOT TRUE!!! Conventional courtesy is that at least a week is given for TV, more in holiday times. And especially for finalé episodes. It is courtesy to extend it further if people are reading in other countries, and places where the programme is shown later (as for instance when we were getting B5 several weeks after -- or occasionally before -- the US).
This is particularly so for LJ, where things appear on the flist and can't be filtered out (with netnews I could killfile on titles or even on words or phrases within the body of the message) short of removing the offender from the list (and by then it's too late).
I sympathize. I find people are hopeless for keeping spoilers to themselves, whether intentionally or accidentally. I avoided LJ and most of the 'net this weekend for the first time since the seventh Harry Potter book came out in hopes of not being spoiled for the Doctor Who finale before watching it. Finally had a chance to see it tonight so I'm back on-line :).
