Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

[livejournal.com profile] bardling gave me:

Altrion

Altrion is the world in which the off and on (largely off at the moment) AD&D campaign I run is set. It's been going since 1984 or so. altrion.org is also my personal domain name, and has the great advantage, like fleetfootmike of being pretty unique.

alternative tunings

I blame a combination of [livejournal.com profile] sexybass and Ben Deschamps, when it comes down to it. I'd never really explored odd tunings on the guitar until my trip to two SF cons last summer, when the former played an entire set in DADGAD, and Ben did stuff backing Heather Dale in several tunings. Since then, I've been doing a lot of stuff in DADGAD (in fact, I have a guitar which really does not sound good in anything else) as well as a few other odd tunings. I love it.

Dark Places

Sheesh, some people never give up :D "Dark Places" is a modern fantasy comic/graphic novel script I wrote back in 2003/4 (gosh, that long ago!) - it spans 19 issues, and that's just book 1. Book 2? I have a decent idea of the plot, and the bridging issue ('Intermezzo') is about half written. Now if only I could find someone with nothing better to do than illustrate 800+ pages....

photography

I got my first camera (a cheap 126-cassette film instamatic) when I was about 10, followed by being given my mother's Kodak Retinette rangefinder camera some years later. It never really clicked until (for various reasons) I bought a Canon 300D DLSR on one of our Florida holidays. There's something about not having to pay for film that makes it possible to take risks, and get photographs that I wouldn't have dared to try without. Anne calls it 'being arty'.

Lymond

Blame [livejournal.com profile] la_marquise_de_, who, desirous of expanding my horizons, loaned me Dorothy Dunnett's "A Game Of Kings", resulting in instant addiction. Francis Crawford of Lymond is the (flawed) hero of that and the following five books. Awesome stuff. I have followed [livejournal.com profile] la_marquise_de_'s excellent example by introducing [livejournal.com profile] bardling to them.

Equally, if you want to give me five words, I'll consider 'em :D

Thankee, but do you really consider that "expanding" upon "altrion"? Really, I was hoping for more than 3 lines. ;)

Anyway, please to be reciprocating?

I still have that photo of you in Oxford, guitar-geeking with a Balrog.

It surprises me that you took ao long to explore alternative tunings.

My 12 string lives in DADGAD, as does my Quatro (although in that case it's really ADGAD). My little parlor really sings in DADGAD, as does my Martin. The Takamine, which was my main stage guitar for several years, never really took to it well.

There's got to be a song in there somewhere... Best I can come up with so far is Ella Fitzgerald singing "My heart belongs to DADGAD". =:o>

All things considered, perhaps another verse for That Real Old-Time Religion.
