Rika reports big tailback on A1 northbound S of Grantham due to 3 car pileup. Recommend to avoid.

My suggestion would be to leave the A1 just north of Colsterworth, on the B6403, going north on the east side of the A1, and following the A52 into Grantham, to pick up the A607 signposted for Melton Mowbray.
