Friday Five meme
Aug. 29th, 2003 06:47 pm1. Are you going to school this year?
Probably not, though I have considered it. I don't think I can afford it this year, but I want to.
2. If yes, where are you going (high school, college, etc.)? If no, when did you graduate?
If I were going, it would be to Peterborough Regional College for a part time degree in Archaeology and Landscape History. I graduated from my first degree (M.A (Cantab) in Computer Science) course in 1985.
3. What are/were your favorite school subjects?
Oof. With hindsight, that's hard. At the time, probably Physics. And computing, unsurprisingly.
4. What are/were your least favorite school subjects?
English, without a doubt. Which given how much I enjoy reading and writing now...
5. Have you ever had a favourite teacher? Why was he/she a favorite?
Dr. Wilson, a,k.a. 'Piggy Wilf' - he was, apparently, a lot fatter when he earned the nickname than when he taught me French and German. He always made lessons funny and entertaining, and still managed to get information into our heads. A close second would be Dr. Geoff Underwood, my 6th form teacher and maths teacher, for just being an all around decent bloke and allowing those of us who were keen on computing access to the school's two Commodore Pets whenever we wanted. Adbiding memory was listing to the radio commentary on last day of the Headingly Ashes Test in 1981 ('Botham's Test'), after I'd taken my A levels, while helping him sort returned textbooks.
