This'll be lost on many of my American friends, but...
England's cricket team lost the Ashes to Australia again this weekend, a series played twice every 4 years that we haven't won since 1987. We went 3-0 down in a 5 game series, in a game that only just lasted half its alotted time (I had tickets for today, my birthday. It was over by Saturday teatime).
We didn't just lose. We let ourselves believe that Australia were invincible.
And we threw it away.
If you care enough to want my full opinion, see the article I wrote for CricInfo at http://www-uk.cricket.org/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2001/AUG/271715_CI_05AUG2001.html
